Wyrmspan games come down to eight categories, all totaled after round four. Two of them β end-game abilities and excess items β are where scores most often go wrong.
1Dragon Guild
Your guild token's final position on the Dragon Guild board determines these points β each space your token reached shows the victory points it's worth. Guild progress is easy to forget at the table because it happens on a shared board, not your player mat. Check the token, not your memory.
2Dragons
Add up the printed victory points of every dragon on your player mat, across all three caverns. Like birds in Wingspan, this is usually your largest single category β but Wyrmspan dragons swing harder, from humble hatchlings to double-digit behemoths.
3End-Game Abilities
Some dragons have abilities that only score when the game ends β "gain X points if" conditions evaluated at final scoring. Go dragon by dragon and check every end-game ability against your final board state. These are the points players most often leave on the table.
4Eggs
Count every egg nested on your dragons and in the bottom-left slots of your player mat β each is worth 1 point unless a card says otherwise. Just like Wingspan, a quiet egg engine adds up faster than it looks.
5Cached Resources
Each resource token cached on your dragons is worth 1 point unless otherwise specified. Resources still in your personal supply are not cached β they count toward Excess Items instead, at a much worse exchange rate.
6Tucked Cards
Cards tucked beneath your dragons score 1 point each unless a card says otherwise. Tuck engines in Wyrmspan can run deep β count carefully under every dragon.
7Public Objectives
At the end of each round your progress on that round's public objective placed a cube on the round tracker. At game end, each cube scores the points printed on its space. Ties are friendly β every player at the same level scores the full amount.
8Excess Items
The cleanup category β and the one everyone computes wrong. Score 1 point per coin you have left, plus 1 point for every four other leftover items (cards in hand, uncached resources) rounded down. Seven leftover cards and resources? Thatβs 1 point, not 1.75.
Coming from Wingspan? The rhythm is familiar but the categories aren't identical β here's our Wingspan score calculator for comparison.
